From the 1990s Howard de Walden went after independent shops rather than the highest rent. That's why you can walk five minutes from Oxford Street and find a bookshop and a cheesemonger instead of four branches of the same thing.
The Cancer Research UK is particularly good for French brands findings (Maje, Sandro, Gerard Darel) and the money goes to a good cause. Oxfam, which is nearby, has also a good clothes selection and a great second-hand books section.

I’m a big fan of Marylebone. Love Chiltern Street in particular around the Firehouse. Barley Mow is an excellent pub too.
